Common questions about pregnancy and postpartum therapy
-
Perinatal is a term to describe the duration of pregnancy and the first twelve months afterward.
Did you know: Many perinatal mental health complications can begin during pregnancy; including depression, which is not exclusive to the postpartum phase. Additionally, studies have shown that women can be affected by mental health concerns up to two years, or longer, after giving birth.
-
Absolutely. Many women struggle prior to giving birth. Also, you don’t have to experience pregnancy to struggle! Fathers, adoptive parents, and even siblings can experience difficulty. A new baby, though wonderful, is a significant change to the family dynamic. It's ok to acknowledge the impact of this transition and to seek professional support.
-
Nope! I also enjoy working with fathers, adoptive parents, or other family members who may be struggling during the perinatal period.
